Field Service Engineer
WORK SUMMARY:

Perform a wide variety of tasks associated with servicing, repairing or operation of most CNC machine tools. Use precision test equipment to analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical problems. Advanced operation of CNC controls from different manufacturers. Successfully coordinate and complete the installation of all machine tools. Work closely with customers, vendors, OEM’s, and other KRC personnel. Travel with limited notice. Independently organize and complete a successful service call. Train and assist level 1-service engineers, other level-2 service engineers, and preventive maintenance technicians. General scraping and fitting of machine tool components.  Must have a good working knowledge and/or skills to a high degree of accuracy. Troubleshoot and repair electronic circuitry to component level. Perform a variety of advanced specialized machine tool repair processes.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Dismantle and prepare machines for shipment.
  • Level and alignment of machines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of major machine tool problems.
  • Disassemble, repair and rebuild machine tool sub assemblies and assemblies.
  • Organize, tag and mark components for future assembly.
  • Identify, repair or replace damaged components.
  • First time power up and troubleshooting of machines.
  • Set up and operate Renishaw Ball bar and Renishaw Laser Calibration equipment.
  • Report activities and expenses timely and accurately.
  • Servo system tuning.
  • Final scrape and or fitting of most machine tool components.
  • Train other employees for advancement.
  • Train customers on operation of CNC control systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repair electronic circuitry.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, OEM’s and KRC personnel.
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized.
  • Travel to customer’s facilities.
  • Work with very limited supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


Electrical Engineer
WORK SUMMARY:

Design and layout of new electrical and CNC control systems for retrofit and remanufacture of machine tools and specialized machines. Construction and tracking of complex detailed bills of materials. Instruct and support electrical technicians and customers as required. Draw and document preliminary and finalized electrical and control systems.

Work closely with software engineers to ensure a safe and reliable control system for all machines. Assist in planning efforts of complex multilevel projects. Research and develop new and improved electrical systems and products. Assist in all aspects of the business that are electrical in nature.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Acquire and interpret original electrical prints. Old technology as well as new.
  • Lay out high voltage schematics and I/O.
  • Limited Knowledge of ladder circuits, structured text programs, and parametric programs.
  • Design and size servo systems for machine tools.
  • Specify and design all feedback devices.
  • Design and layout mag panels complete with dimensional information.
  • Assist with final troubleshooting of all electrical and control systems.
  • Complete documentation of all electrical circuits and diagrams.
  • Compile and complete bills of material for all electrical components.
  • Work closely with software engineers to design operator’s pendants.
  • Assemble and compile laser and ball bar calibration documentation.
  • Assist software engineers with ordering of CNC control packages.
  • Inspection of CNC and electrical components at receipt.
  • Warranty and sales service and support.
  • Research and development of electrical components and systems.
  • Keep work area neat, clean, and organized.
  • Report daily labor activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Machine Tool Mechanic
WORK SUMMARY:

Disassembly and rebuild of mechanical machine tool assemblies and sub assemblies. General cleaning and preparation of machine components and sub-assemblies.  The requisition of purchased mechanical materials and method of more complex mechanical operations. Troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assemblies. Provide customer support through phone or on sight service. Move and package materials for shipment and perform rigging operations. Maintain OEM specifications associated with adjustment and alignment of machine tools. Run off of mechanical assemblies and sub assemblies.  Assist in all assigned aspects of the business that are mechanical in nature.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Prepare machine components for shipment.
  • Safely operate fork truck and crane for the movement and storage of materials.
  • Thoroughly clean machine components and operate cleaning equipment.
  • Rigging and moving of major machine tool components.
  • Disassembly, rebuild and re-assembly of all types machine tools and sub assemblies.
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized.
  • Read and analyze OEM manuals and assembly drawings.
  • Assist in resolving mechanical problems and issues.
  • Travel to customer locations to perform mechanical repairs and installation.
  • Provide guidance to level 2 and level 3 mechanics as required.
  • Organize, tag and mark components for future assembly.
  • Identify and repair or replace damaged mechanical components.
  • Remove, identify and install all types of seals and “O” rings.
  • Bend and fit hydraulic tubing.
  • Make hose assemblies.
  • Fit and glue wear material to bearing surfaces.
  • Scraping and fitting of bearing surfaces.
  • Assembly of major machine tool components while maintaining OEM build and alignment specifications.
  • Report daily labor activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Electrical Technician
WORK SUMMARY:

Mounting and wiring of electrical machine tool components. Assembly and wiring of magnetic and electrical panels. General cleaning and repair of electrical machine components.  Machine wiring and assembly.  Mount, wire and tune servo systems.  First time power up and troubleshooting of retrofitted machine tools. Preliminary run off of powered up machines including debug and writing of ladder diagram.  Assist engineering, level 2, and level 1 electrical technicians in the definition of purchased electrical materials. Laser calibrate machines. Provide customer support through phone or on sight service.  Move and package materials for shipping and receiving. Assist in all aspects of the business that are electrical in nature.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Prepare electrical machine components for shipment.
  • Safely operate fork truck for the movement and storage of materials.
  • Assembly and wiring of electrical assemblies and components.
  • First time power up and troubleshooting of retrofitted machines including low level ladder diagram.
  • Ability to set-up and operate the Renishaw laser and Ball-bar.
  • Rough draft documentation of electrical circuits and diagrams.
  • Servo system tuning.
  • Customer operation training.
  • Customer support, Warranty/Non-Warranty service.
  • Machine wiring.
  • Keep work area neat, clean, and organized.
  • Report daily labor activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
